September. Midweek. Term time.
We’re now in the glorious little window in the theme park calendar when the planets align, the school holidays disappear and the queues suddenly start behaving themselves. This is Theme Park Golden Time.
The TPD team have spent enough days watching the park apps to know that picking the right day can make a ridiculous difference to your creds. And if you’re serious about maximising rides, midweek in mid-September is about as good as it gets.
The kids are back at school. The families are back at work. The summer holiday crowds have evaporated. The Scarefest squad haven’t decided on their costumes yet. Which means you can do something that feels almost illegal after a summer of 60-minute queues: LAPPING. Yep, you’ll be able to do more laps than a timid child go-karting with a stuck accelerator pedal.
It’s particularly good for me, as I have sworn an oath to the theme park gods that I will only ever ride Stealth if I can lap it at least once.

GENIUS TEACHER ALERT
TPD has learned of a school in Redditch that deliberately took pupils to Drayton Manor in the first week back after the summer holidays. Staff were sick of failed July trips with queues longer than the checkout at Asda on Christmas Eve. To that bold, brave, genius teacher — we salute you!
While the rest of the country’s children are being handed exercise books and learning about parallelograms or Macbeth, this absolute legend is apparently thinking, ‘We need to ensure the kids maximise their creds on The Wave!’
Hopefully, you guys can get to a park this September too. There are few better feelings than opening the park app to zero mins and immediately dropping your mates a smug screengrab. Don’t forget to post a selfie to the Theme Park Daily group chat while you’re at it.
Welcome to GOLDEN TIME!!!
