The End of the UK Theme Park Season: What’s Happening This Winter?

As we approach the end of the UK theme park season, every enthusiast I know is dreading seeing the gates close. But what last crumbs of theme park action can we get in 2026?

The End of the UK Theme Park Season: What’s Happening This Winter?EVENTS

A number of UK theme parks are bringing back their Christmas events, giving visitors a chance to enjoy selected attractions outside the main season. So I think it’s less the end of this year we need to worry about and more the horrible January that follows. At least we’ll have construction updates to keep us going!

Here’s what’s happening over the coming months.

Alton Towers – Ultimate Fireworks Spectacular & Magical Days Out

Alton Towers will first host its Ultimate Fireworks Spectacular from 6–8 November, marking the end of its main operating season. All rides will be open, and the day will end with an amazing firework display. I just hope we get an announcement for 2027 during it!

The resort will then return for Magical Days Out on selected dates from 27 November until 23 December. Visitors can enjoy festive entertainment and selected attractions. There is no confirmed rollercoaster line-up for this event.

Chessington World of Adventures – Christmas at Chessington

Chessington’s Christmas event returns from 21 November until 24 December on selected dates. Visitors can enjoy the Christmas Village, Santa’s Grotto, festive entertainment and a hefty selection of theme park rides, including Mandrill Mayhem, Dragon’s Fury and plenty more.

Chessington will also host its separate Twixmas event from 27 December until 3 January, with selected rides and festive entertainment continuing after Christmas.

LEGOLAND Windsor will host its festive event on selected dates from 21 November until 3 January 2027.

The event includes Christmas decorations, live entertainment, LEGO activities and more than 20 rides and attractions. Plenty to keep visitors busy over the winter break!

Paultons Park – A Celebration of Christmas

Paultons Park’s A Celebration of Christmas returns on selected dates from 5 December until 3 January 2027. Visitors can experience festive entertainment, Christmas lights and a large selection of rides, including attractions across the whole of Valgard.

This will also be the first Christmas season for Valgard, which only opened in May this year. That means Drakon, Raven and Vild Swing will be experiencing their first winter season!

Drayton Manor – Magical Christmas & Twixmas

Drayton Manor’s Magical Christmas returns on selected dates throughout November and December. Visitors can enjoy the Enchanted Christmas Grotto, festive entertainment, an Aladdin pantomime and selected rides.

Although the park’s main thrill rides won’t be operating during Magical Christmas, there are still family attractions available to enjoy.

Drayton Manor will also host Twixmas from 27–31 December, giving visitors another opportunity to enjoy the park during the Christmas holidays. Selected rides will operate, including Accelerator, alongside family attractions and festive entertainment.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach – Christmas at Pleasure Beach Resort

Blackpool Pleasure Beach is also getting involved in the festive celebrations, with Christmas entertainment running throughout November and December.

The resort will feature its Christmas Grotto, Aladdin pantomime, Christmas party nights and seasonal entertainment.

This isn’t advertised as a full winter ride reopening, but it’s another opportunity to visit one of the UK’s most iconic theme park resorts outside the main season.

With the main season coming to an end, these Christmas events give enthusiasts a few more opportunities to get back through the gates before 2027. Whether it’s a festive trip to Alton Towers, a few winter rides at Chessington or finally experiencing Valgard in the dark, there’s still plenty to look forward to before the parks reopen for another season.

Thank you for reading.
